Honda CBX (1979-1982): Warning & Service Labels for the 1979-1980 and Pro-Link Models

Honda CBX 1979-1980 warning and service label kit

The Honda CBX is a bike where the small details matter: six cylinders, six carburettors, and a label for almost everything. When a CBX is restored, the warning and service labels are often the last thing missing. This guide covers the two label sets we make: the 1979-1980 CBX and the 1981-1982 Pro-Link.

1979-1980 or 1981-1982 Pro-Link? Check before you order

The original CBX (1979-1980) has twin rear shocks. The Pro-Link (1981-1982) has a single rear shock with a linkage, and carries its own labels on the swingarm. The two kits are not interchangeable, so pick the one that matches your bike. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your bike or your old labels at info@hrddecals.com and we will tell you which one you need.

Only need one or two labels?

If your bike already has most of its labels, you can order single ones. For example, the CBX drive chain and exhaust notice set contains the drive chain caution label and the exhaust system notice.

Tip: photograph everything before you strip the bike

Before you remove any part, take clear photos of every original label, even faded or damaged ones. Note which part each one was on and which way it faced. When the bike goes back together, the photos show you exactly where each new label goes.

How to fit the labels

  1. Check the position first against your reference photos.
  2. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Wax, polish and fingerprints stop the adhesive from bonding.
  3. Peel one edge only, line the label up, and let the rest follow.
  4. Smooth from the centre outwards to push out air, then press the edges down firmly.
  5. Leave it for 24 hours before washing the bike.
